We have a wholistic approach to our work with couples. It is our belief that marital/committed relationships flourish when couples have built a solid foundation. One of the ways to contribute to a healthy marriage is to spend some intentional time as a couple acknowledging your relationship strengths and addressing those areas that you would like to enhance.
The Community Counselling Centre offers an informative and personalized pre-marital and marital enrichment program. We begin with an in-depth assessment of your relationship, utilizing a joint relationship questionnaire, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Prepare Enrichment Program.
The MBTI assessment will provide you with valuable insights into your own and your partner’s communication, decision making and relationship preferences. It will help you to adapt your communication style so that you can both communicate more clearly and effectively.
The Prepare/Enrichment Program uses a detailed 165 item inventory that will provide you with a comprehensive profile and feedback on the following relationship dimensions:
- Children and parenting
- Conflict resolution
- Couple closeness
- Couple flexibility
- Family and friends
- Family closeness
- Family flexibility
- Financial management
- Leisure activities
- Marriage expectations
- Personality issues
- Role relationship
- Sexual relationship
- Spiritual beliefs
We then use the results of these questionnaires to identify and explore your relationship concerns and interests. Our experienced therapists will work with you in a caring and non-judgemental fashion, supporting you in strengthening the basis of your relationship. We encourage our couples to bring forward their own concerns to include in their Marriage Preparation/Enrichment. This program is also applicable to committed common-law relationships.
As we offer Marriage Preparation/Enrichment on a private basis, scheduling is flexible and dependent on your schedule. Most of our counsellors have both daytime and evening availability. .
The total cost is $325.00 per couple. This includes 1 hour of assessment, the scoring/review of three questionnaires and 3 hours of relationship counselling.
